Mon, Apr 14, 2008    to del.icio.us

The 16th annual Chilly Blues Chili Cookoff and Blues Pub Crawl will include eight acts performing at five downtown Grand Haven venues.

The festival takes place Friday and Saturday, April 18-19.

At the Kirby Grill, 2 Washington, Dueling Blues Pianos will play both Friday and Saturday nights. Robert Pace Duo performs Friday at The Dee-Lite Theater Bar & Grill, 24 Washington, and both Vince and the Butcher and Big Daddy Fox will take the bar's stage on Saturday. Next door at The Grand Seafood & Oyster Bar, the Vincent Hayes Project performs on Friday and the Deb Alexander Trio plays on Saturday. The Robert Pace Band plays at Snug Harbor, 311 S. Harbor, on Saturday. At the Rosebud, 100 Washington, Bitter Sweet plays on Friday and Crack R Wagon is on stage there Saturday night.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 each at Snug Harbor, Kirby or Dee-Lite, which will include admission to all the locations on both nights.

The chili contest will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday on the outdoor deck at Snug Harbor. The public is welcome to sample the entries after noon. Live blues music will begin at 1 p.m. and chili judging will begin at 3 p.m.

"For a very minimal ticket price, you can enjoy yourself the entire weekend with nothing but music and food," said Tim Riley, manager of the Kirby House.
