Mr. Francis Louis Dixon Jr., age 63, of Ferrysburg passed away at home Wednesday morning following a long illness.

Frank was born in Ludington to Francis L. and Mildred Smith Dixon on May 19, 1944. Frank was a graduate of Grand Haven High School and retired this past October from Spring Lake Country Club. He married the former Barbara A. Chubb in Grand Haven on March 15, 1975, and resided in Ferrysburg for the past 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating and Christmas. He was known for the Christmas light display in and around the house during the Christmas season; the money donations were used to purchase Toys for Tots.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; five children: Robert (Yvonne) Dixon of Grand Haven, Scott Dixon of Grand Haven, Shelly (Dennis) Hilliker of Greenville, Vicki Newhouse of Comstock Park and Kimberly Haywood of Fennville; two sisters, Barbara (Carl) Johnston and Diane (Darrell) Rose; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lawrence.

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Dunes, 717 Sheldon Road, Grand Haven, Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Elden Eldred officiating.

Those desiring a more lasting memorial are asked to consider Toys for Tots.

You may share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.sytsemafh.com.

Arrangements by The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Muskegon. Phone: (231) 798-1100.
