The contest will begin next week, which is National Bike to Work Week, May 12-18.

Contest details and forms are available at Rock 'n' Road Cycle, 300 N. Seventh St.

In an interview for a Tribune story last year, Russ Tiles of Rock 'n' Road Cycle said he was coordinating the bike-to-work contest to show people that it is possible to ride a bike to their job.

"Right now, with the gas prices and traffic in Grand Haven, it's a great time to get everyone riding," said Tiles for the May 2007 Tribune story, with words that ring even more true today.

This year's contest will run May 12 through June 30. Unlike last year, the contest will include weekends and one-way trips.

Participants are to log their total mileage to and from work, along with the number of days they rode to work, over the seven-week period. Completed logs can be dropped off at any of the local bike shops from June 30 to July 9.

The grand prize this year is a Giant FCR-3, but this year the prize will be given out by lottery.
