Old Fashioned Days begins Tuesday

FRUITPORT — Popular attractions return to this year's Old Fashioned Days, which begins Tuesday.

The Grand Lady Riverboat Cruises, which debuted last year, will run every 90 minutes starting on Friday. A pair of special two-hour cruises with the Polka Towners band will run at 6:45 and 9 p.m. Thursday. Those cruises are $14 per person with a roast lunch available on board for $6.

Advance reservations are required with tickets available at Copies & More, 420 N. 3rd Ave., Fruitport.

The remainder of the cruises during the week cost $8. Check at the dock for scheduled cruises.

The Scottville Clown Band is back for this year's parade, with a concert afterward in the band shell until 4 p.m. The Clown Band will exit the parade at Pomona Park for their concert.

The parade will continue with its noon start time, which moved up from 2 p.m. for the first time last year. For the third year, there will be two nights of fireworks — Friday and Sunday.

New events for kids include a green machine race and a video game tent, featuring "Guitar Hero" and "Halo 3."

* Lions ox roast: 4-10 p.m.

Thursday

* Jr./Sr. high school Jazz Festival: 2-8 p.m. at the band shell

* Carnival Midway: 4-11 p.m.

- Registration is 8-9 a.m. at the Fruitport High School football field; parking available at Fruitport Middle School.

* Bike-A-Thon around the lake

- $15 registration fee benefits Harbor Hospice and includes lunch at the Lions ox roast. Check-in at 9:30 a.m. at Fruitport High School. Ride begins at 10:30 a.m.

* Kiddie Parade judging: 10:15 a.m. at Ram Electronics

* Kiddie Parade: 11:30 a.m. down Third Street to Park

* Kiddie Free Fair: noon (after the kiddie parade) on Park Street, east of Third Street.

* Wild animal zoo: noon to 10 p.m.; free

* Lions ox roast: noon to 10 p.m.

* Grand Lady Riverboat Cruises: 1-10 p.m.

- Tickets are $8 per person; check the dock for schedule. A special cruise with the Fruitport School Jazz Band will be from 2-3:30 p.m. for $15 per person, with the proceeds going to Fruitport Band Parents. Advance reservations available at Copies & More, 420 N. 3rd Ave., Fruitport.

* Carnival Midway: noon to 11:30 p.m.

- $17 wristbands required from noon to 10 p.m.

Sunday

* Car Show: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Middle School parking lot

* Community Marketplace and Garage Sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Edgewood School parking lot

- Space available for $10; setup starts at 8 a.m.

* Horseshoe Tournament: 10 a.m. (register at 9 a.m.) at Farr Field

* Salute to Veterans service: 10:30 a.m. to noon at the band shell

* Community Pig Roast: noon to 6 p.m. at the covered pavilion; $7 adults/$4 children

* Carnival Midway: noon to midnight

- $17 wristbands required from noon to 10:30 p.m.

* Wild animal zoo: noon to 10 p.m.; free

* Lions ox roast: noon to 10 p.m.

* Grand Lady Riverboat Cruises: 1-10 p.m.

Monday, May 26th

* Memorial Day Parade: noon, starting at the Edgewood and Middle School parking lots.

* Scottville Clown Band concert: starts after the parade until 4 p.m. at the band shell
