State police and local law enforcement officers arrested 242 fugitives during a three-day "street sweep," June 17-19.
It was the highest single sweep since Gov. Jennifer Granholm established the Project S.A.F.E. initiative in 2003.
Project S.A.F.E. is a quarterly effort aimed at improving public safety by encouraging the state's law enforcement agencies to work together in the arrest of violent parole violators.
The sweep included arrests for armed robbery, assault and battery, breaking and entering, burglary, drug offenses, criminal sexual assault, and fraud.
A total of 3,621 fugitives have been arrested since Project S.A.F.E. began quarterly sweeps in March 2003.
