Man ordered to stand trial in wife's murder

Wed, Mar 26, 2008    to del.icio.us

ROCKFORD (AP) — A 31-year-old man arrested in Texas in the 2004 slaying of his wife in Michigan has been ordered to stand trial in the case.

Following two days of testimony, District Court Judge Steven Servass in Rockford ruled Tuesday there was enough evidence for Timothy Dawson to face trial on a first-degree murder charge. His next court date wasn't immediately set.

Defense lawyer Charles Rominger told WZZM-TV that his client will be acquitted at trial.

Timothy Dawson was arrested in January at his home in Kerr County, Texas.

The body of 23-year-old Julia Dawson was found in Montcalm County about three weeks after she disappeared.

The couple lived in Sparta at the time. Timothy Dawson later moved to Texas.
