MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) A man accused of killing three teens at a popular swimming spot on the Wisconsin-Michigan border is expected to waive a preliminary hearing in a Wisconsin court.
Wednesday's hearing in Marinette County Circuit Court is to determine whether there's enough evidence to order a trial for 38-year-old Scott Johnson of Kingsford, Mich. He's charged with three counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
Defense lawyer Leonard Kachinsky tells the Detroit Free Press Johnson is expected to waive the hearing and could enter a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
Authorities say Johnson went on a shooting rampage July 31, firing at teens swimming in the Menominee River. All three victims were from Michigan.
