Woman wanted in Mich. waives extradition from S.C.

DETROIT (AP) — A woman U.S. Marshals said escaped from a Michigan prison 35 years ago is expected to be returned to the state within a few weeks after agreeing to waive extradition from South Carolina.

Marshals said 59-year-old Barbara Corley was arrested Friday in Piedmont. The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press reported she waived extradition during a hearing Saturday and was being held at the Anderson County Detention Center.

U.S. Marshals said Corley, who was formerly known as Barbara Glenn, had established an entirely new life in South Carolina. Investigators said Glenn was in prison on a 15-year sentence for assault, writing bad checks and carrying a concealed weapon when she escaped from the Detroit House of Corrections in 1973.
