Two local businesses were cited in a tobacco sting Wednesday, Grand Haven public safety officials said.
The sting encompassed 12 local businesses, Lt. Renee Freeman said, and police found the Grand Haven Shell Mini-Mart, 10 N. Beacon, and Hostetter's News Agency, 135 Washington, sold tobacco to minors. Clerks at both the businesses were given tickets for selling to minors, Freeman said.
The department holds the stings yearly at random times, Freeman said. The number of citations from last year's sting were not immediately available, she said, but the department is always shooting for zero tolerance.
"We're happy it was only two of 12, but we'd like to see it be zero of 12," she said.
