Muskegon man dies after falling off car

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP — A Muskegon man has died after falling off a moving vehicle in the River Haven Mobile Home Park early this morning.

Nicholas Iverson, 20, was pronounced dead about 2:30 this afternoon, according to Ottawa County Sheriff's Sgt. Michael Wieringa.

Iverson was standing on the rear bumper and holding onto a vehicle being driven on River Haven Boulevard through River Haven Mobile Home Park at about 2 a.m. when he fell off the car for an unknown reason and struck the pavement.

He was taken by ambulance to Spectrum Health, Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids in critical condition with a skull fracture, Wieringa said.

The driver of the vehicle is a 21-year-old man from Muskegon whose name is being withheld by police pending arraignment. The driver was arrested and taken to Ottawa County jail under a charge of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, Wieringa said.

The driver was not injured, he said.
