(AP) A Detroit man has been charged with stealing nearly $200,000 in savings from a dead man.
Mark Furstenberg, who died in June 2006 of natural causes, had earmarked $150,000 of the money for the American Cancer Society.
State Attorney General Mike Cox's office on Wednesday announced 12 felony charges against 27-year-old Dion Mann. If convicted, he could face up to 14 years in prison.
Investigators say Furstenberg's Detroit home was broken into after he died, and there were several unauthorized transactions on his accounts at Fidelity Investments and Chase Bank.
Authorities accuse Mann of either writing checks to himself from the dead man's accounts or transferring money to his own bank.
Cox's office didn't know if Mann has a lawyer.
