Lakers' singles shine in win over Allegan Thursday

Spring Lake swept the singles flights Thursday in a 6-2 victory over Allegan.
David Cook topped Seth Arthur at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, while Tyler Fedewa overpowered Tom Burghard, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2. Alek Kihnke held on for a 6-3, 7-6 (8) win over Nave Tibbitts at No. 3 singles, while Ian Kihnke had no trouble with Kyle Laguttuta at No. 4, winnint 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, the Lakers' Nate Lee and Ben Esh-Nauta won 6-3, 7-6 (3) at No. 1, while Lance Fredricson and Ray Strobel scored a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory, giving the Lakers their six wins.
"We played very well, and I'm pleased with all the players," said Spring Lake coach Charlie Bassett. "There were a lot of clos matches, and the boys stayed focused and played hard. I feel we're off to a good start to our season, but we need to continue to work hard and get in better shape for the rest of the season."
