52 children compete at Hershey meet

A total of 52 youth athletes competed in Thursday's 2009 Hershey Track Meet, held at Lakeshore Middle School.

Competitors from Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg, West Olive, Muskegon, Fremont and Grand Rapids took part in several individual and relay running events, along with long jump and softball throws.

Winners from Thursday's competition advance to the state meet, which will be held in Holt on July 10. State winners are then placed in a regional pool and are eligible to be selected for the North American final, which takes place in Hershey, Pa., on Aug. 1.

A list of winners from Thursday's event will be printed in the Tribune next week.
