HAGAR TOWNSHIP (AP) — Authorities said a Watervliet man was struck and killed by a freight train as he sat on the tracks in Berrien County's Hagar Township.

The train was hauling coal from Chicago to West Olive.

The Berrien County Sheriff's Department said Bobby Tunstill, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck Wednesday night. Occupants of the train told authorities that Tunstill did not respond to the sound of the train's whistle.
