"With six on a team, there's quite a few kids out here," organizer Vicki Cech said.
Cech said the now-annual event was the idea of her son, Ryan Fox, after he lost his brother, Andy Fox, to drowning in Lake Michigan in 2003.
"(Andy) didn't know about rip currents, and (Ryan) wanted to make sure that people had an idea what to do especially the kids," Cech said. "So it's kind of a fun way for them to learn things and kind of sneak up the information on them, so that they're learning and having fun at the same time."
