Emergency personnel were called to the Grand Haven City Beach near the Bil Mar restaurant around 1 p.m. Sunday after someone called for help with children struggling in the rough Lake Michigan water.
Police said a mother noticed her two older children having trouble in the big waves, ran to them and was able to bring them to shore OK.
Emergency personnel checked the children and determined no medical attention was needed, said Lt. Renee Freeman, Grand Haven Department of Public Safety.
A red flag was flying Sunday at the Grand Haven State Park.
