Mary E. Schnicke

Mary E. Schnicke, age 84, of Ionia passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on September 14, 1924, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of John and Cecil Deal. Both parents have preceded her in death.

In October 1973, she married Karl F. Schnicke in Grand Haven, and he survives. Also surviving are her children: Mary Lois (Dan) Garrow of Grand Haven, Nancy (Rick) Johnson of Iowa, Egbert "Butch" (Rose) Palen of Grand Haven and Joe Palen of Grand Haven; and her step-children: Judy Brainard of Orleans, Richard (Mary) Schnicke of Edmore, David (Jan) Schnicke of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Paul Schnicke of Key West, Fla.; a brother, Dan (Delores) Deal of Grand Haven; plus 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was a longtime resident of the Orleans area and was formerly of Grand Haven.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Shiloh Community Church at Orleans.
