David Bonter had a career day on Wednesday, shooting a front-nine 37 and a back-nine 36, helping Spring Lake's boys golf team take first place in a pair of Lakes Eight Conference jamborees.
The front nine served as the Grant Jamboree, which the Lakers won with a 158. Orchard View was second at 160, followed by Fremont at 162 and Ludington at 164.
Alan Marine shot a 39 for the Lakers, followed by Robby Jerovsek and Danny Knape, each with a 41.
The back nine counted as the Tri-County Jamboree, and the Lakers again came out on top, this time tying Ludington for the lead at 161.
Jerovsek carded a 40, Will Crane a 42 and Knape a 43.
Only one Lakes Eight Conference jamboree remains, and that will be played at Spring Lake Country Club next week Wednesday. Heading into that event, the Lakers trail the Orioles by four strokes in the overall league standings.
"Our destiny's in our hands. Now we'll see what we're made out of," said Spring Lake coach George Bitner.
