CHESTER TOWNSHIP Police are looking for the driver of a truck that struck a bicyclist Tuesday morning and then fled the scene.
Andrew Carson, 56, was riding a recumbent bike north on the Musketawa Trail around 7:40 a.m. when he entered Sehler Street and was struck by a vehicle traveling west, said Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department. Witnesses told police the truck continued west on Sehler after striking Carson.
Witnesses described the vehicle as an older brown pickup truck, possibly a Ford, with a topper, Austin said.
Carson, of Glendale, Wis., was taken to Mercy General Hospital in Muskegon by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries, Austin said.
Carson was wearing a bicycle helmet.
Minimal damage to the truck may be located on the driver's side front quarter panel area, Austin said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department at 738-4042.
