Corey Kingsbury, 48, was driving her sport utility vehicle west on Adams Street around noon when a Specialized Demolition Inc. semi, driven by 34-year-old Jimmy Holland of Hamilton, pulled into her path as he traveled north on 56th Avenue.
Police said Holland stopped at the stop sign, then tried to cross the intersection before the woman's 2000 Chevy Blazer got there. Holland told police he believed he would have enough time to cross.
Kingsbury sustained severe leg injuries and was pinned in her vehicle, Lt. Steve Kempker of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department said at the scene. She was extricated by a Zeeland Township Fire Department crew. Kingsbury was taken to Spectrum Hospital's Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids by ambulance, though her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Holland was uninjured.
Aeromed helicopters were called to the scene, but later canceled.
