Kieft breaks sister's record for SL swim

Thu, Sep 4, 2008    to del.icio.us

Spring Lake's varsity swimmers fell short against the co-op team of Byron Center, South Christian and Caledonia Wednesday, 101-81.
Maria Kieft highlighted the event for the Lakers by setting a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 2.42 seconds. That broke the old record set by her sister, Aria Kieft, in 2006.

Kieft also won the 100 freestyle in 55.29 seconds. Both swims turned out state-qualifying times for Kieft.

Becca Mumby won the diving competition with 148.55 points. Courtney Grabman was fourth at 135.8, and Briana Brackett took fifth at 124.2.

Best times were turned in by Emma Jacobson, Lydia Gleason, Tara Lesneski and Riley Thyfault.
