A string of vehicle break-ins in the city last week has prompted the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety to advise residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from them.
The department is investigating 10 break-ins that were reported in the northeastern section of the city late Wednesday and Saturday, GHDPS Lt. Joe Boyle said. The vehicles were left unlocked, Boyle said, and many of the stolen items were in plain view.
Items taken from the vehicles were mainly electronic items such as MP3 players, compact discs, GPS units and flash drives, Boyle said but also included items such as sunglasses and jewelry.
GHDPS has increased night patrols in the area in an effort to stop the break-ins, Boyle said.
Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to call the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety at 842-3460 or Silent Observer at 842-1400.
