SPRING LAKE A bicyclist and his dog were hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a Spring Lake street Tuesday morning.
The biker, 62-year-old Spring Lake resident Michael John Swiftney, was entering the intersection of Savidge and Jackson streets when he was struck by a Ford Escape driven by 36-year-old Jennifer DeMarse of Nunica.
DeMarse was turning left onto eastbound Savidge when she struck Swiftney at 10:41 a.m., police said.
Swiftney suffered multiple bone fractures, according to police, and was taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The dog, who was on the bike with Swiftney, was taken to Harborfront Animal Hospital in Spring Lake.
DeMarse was cited for failing to yield while making a left turn, police said.
