closes season with victory

The Grand Haven Sailing Club wrapped up its season this past month by taking the top two spots in a two-school regatta on Spring Lake.

Grand Haven's Team 1, made up of Conner Davis, skipper; and Collen Betten, crew; along with Maggie Kloote, skipper; and Cole Curtiss, crew.

Grand Haven's Team 2 featured Mats Lindfor and Nick Miller, crew; along with Grant James, skipper; and Zac Konarska, crew. That foursome placed second, with East Grand Rapids taking third.

Traditionally, the Grand Haven High School sailing team closes its season with an early November trip to a regatta in Chicago, but family commitments by several team members forced the team to skip that event.

The Grand River Sailing Club sponsors and supports the GHHS team. A volunteer group consisting of Tim Graham, Craig Porter, Curt Porter, Brad Fisher, Larry Taunt, Ken Nienhouse and Jim Wujkowski run the races, while Jeff Fuller and Shane Goode served as the team's coaches.
