A winter weather advisory is in effect for Ottawa County and several other West Michigan counties from 7 p.m. Thursday until 5 p.m. Friday.
Late Thursday afternoon, another significant round of freezing rain and sleet is expected to begin falling over the Lakeshore counties. About one-tenth to two-tenths of ice accumulation is possible late Thursday and Christmas Day, according to the National Weather Service.
Easterly winds could gust over 35 mph Thursday night and Friday, leading to downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.
Travelers on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day could become impacted by the wintry mix. Holiday travel will be slower and air traffic may be delayed.
The weather bureau says we'll return to a less-threatening winter weather pattern the rest of the weekend with a chance of snow Saturday and Sunday, and highs in the mid-to-upper 20s and lows around 20.
