Coyote with head stuck in pipe saved

Tue, Aug 19, 2008    to del.icio.us

LUDINGTON (AP) — Authorities in Mason County have rescued a coyote that got its head stuck in a tight spot.

WKLA Radio in Ludington reported the animal was spotted Monday night near Ludington with an 8-inch piece of PVC pipe wrapped around its neck. Deputies and animal control officers captured the coyote and took it to an animal hospital, where the pipe was cut off.

The coyote received treatment for minor injuries and later was released.

Mason County Undersheriff Tom Trenner said an area around the coyote's shoulders had been rubbed raw by the pipe. He said it's unclear how long the animal had the pipe around its neck.
