The Grand Haven Community Aquatic Center will be hosting its second indoor triathlon on Sunday.
The event is limited to the first 90 enteries and varies slightly from outdoor triathlons. Each event of swimming, biking and running will be limited to 15 minutes per participant, with a five-minute transition time.
The first wave of participants will begin at 10:15 a.m., with additional waves of athletes beginning every 20 minutes after. Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to their wave. The swim will be held inside at the 25-yard, 12-lane pool; the biking portion is staged on road bikes mounted on calibrated magnetic trainers with strap pedals only; and the run will be held on an 11-lap/mile indoor track in the Grand Haven Fieldhouse. The distances completed in each event are converted to yards and totaled. The most yards for an individual or team wins.
The cost of the event is $60 per individual or $95 per team. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female, as well as top performers in individual age groups. Each participant will receive a Dri-Fit T-shirt.
To register over the phone, contact Rita at (616) 850-5126, or send enteries with a check to Grand Haven Aquatics, 1415 Beechtree Street, Grand Haven, MI, 49417.
