Shelter stages marathon benefit Nov. 6-7

WEST OLIVE In an effort to raise awareness and funds for the homeless, abandoned and abused animals in Ottawa County, Harbor Humane Society will host "In the Doghouse" Nov. 6-7 at the shelter, 14345 Bagley St. in West Olive.
During this 24-hour marathon, HHS staff and volunteers will be locked into an outdoor dog kennel for hours at a time in the hopes to raise $10,000.
Harbor Humane Society is appealing to the public for donations and pledges to help fight animal cruelty and neglect, as well as care for the countless numbers of pets they house throughout the year. The event will begin 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6; and conclude at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
HHS will offer $10 microchipping for pets from 4-6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, as well as reduced adoption fees on all current adoptable pets. Snacks and beverages will be available both days.
