Trees damaged in fort building effort in park

Tue, Nov 3, 2009    to del.icio.us

Several trees in Duncan Woods were damaged when they were broken off and used to build a fort in the city park late last week.

Groundskeeper Bob DeHare said the tops of about 23 trees — ranging from 9 feet to 14 feet in height — were broken off in order to build an "extensive" fort.

"It actually took me two hours to take the thing apart," DeHare said.

Grand Haven Department of Public Safety officers photographed the scene, DeHare said, but are looking for suspect information.

Anyone with information is asked to call GHDPS at 842-3460.
