STEINLAGE, SPARTANS FALL IN 2ND ROUND
Avery Steinlage and the Michigan State University men's soccer team had their season come to a heartbreaking end on Sunday, as it fell to Duke in the second round of the NCAA Championships, 2-1.
The Spartans, who clinched an NCAA berth for the third consecutive season, finished their campaign at 11-8-2.
It ended a tremendous season for Steinlage, the former Spring Lake standout, who was in goal for all 11 MSU victories. He totaled 67 saves and allowed only 15 goals in over 1,700 minutes played. The redshirt junior also had seven of the Spartans' eight shutouts this season.
Steinlage set an NCAA record earlier this season by not allowing a goal during 1,318 minutes, 26 seconds of action.
