CROCKERY TOWNSHIP A Muskegon woman was injured Wednesday night and westbound I-96 was closed for nearly 45 minutes after a two car accident occurred near the 10 mile marker.
Claudia DeJong, 37, suffered non-life threatening injuries after she lost control of her vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a guardrail. Her vehicle bounced back into the roadway and struck a vehicle driven by 60-year-old Tallmadge Township resident Robert Lupton, sheriff's deputies said.
According to police, Lupton was not able to avoid DeJong's vehicle in time to avoid the collision, which occurred near the Spring Lake exit.
Robert Lupton and his passengers, Catherine Lupton, 55, and Jennifer Lupton, 21, all received no injuries. DeJong was transported to Mercy Hospital in Muskegon.
According to police, all drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
