WMC volleyball wraps up district championship

Western Michigan Christian throttled The Potter's House in the Division 4 district championship match on Friday, winning in three games.
The Warriors won the opener, 25-12, then took the next two games, 25-7, 25-5.
Erin Knochen-hauer led the Warriors with nine aces to go along with 13 digs, while Annie VanRees added seven aces.
VanRees also had 10 kills, 17 assists and two blocks.

Lauren Merz finished with 10 kills, three blocks and three assists while Julie Merz chipped in with five assists.
WMC advances to the regional tournament, where the Warriors will take on the winner of the Big Rapids Crossroads district in the Mt. Pleasant regional. The regional semifinals will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The regional finals will be played next Thursday in Mt. Pleasant.
Grand Haven will play for a shot at a Class A district championship when the Buccaneers host Cedar Springs today at 10 a.m. at Grand Haven Fieldhouse.
The winner of today's contest advances to the regional touranment and will play at Traverse City Central.
