WEST OLIVE A workshop on the new Water Withdrawal Assessment Process and Tool will be held at the Ottawa County Fillmore Street Complex on Thursday, Jan. 22.
The workshop is designed to introduce users to Michigan's new water regulations, key hydrologic concepts, environmental criteria now used to assess "adverse resource impacts," and an overview of local groundwater and surface water resources.
Anyone that is planning a new water withdrawal of 70 gallons per minute with a new well is encouraged to attend this meeting to learn how to use the new tool. The tool goes into effect on July 9. New large water withdrawals must be registered using the tool with the state prior to building a system.
The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the county's Administration Building Main Conference Room, 12220 Fillmore St. in West Olive. Lunch is included.
Participants must register for the meeting by mail or on the Web at least five days prior to the workshop. The cost is $35 per person.
