BUTLER TOWNSHIP (AP) — Two riders in an Amish buggy carrying five people were hurt Monday evening in a hit-and-run crash in Branch County's Butler Township.

The county sheriff's office said the 16-year-old driver of the vehicle that collided with the buggy left the scene of the accident, but returned about an hour later.

Deputies said 67-year-old Butler Township resident Rachel Hilty suffered a severe leg injury and was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Her condition wasn't being released this morning.

The second victim was taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall with shoulder and neck injuries. That person's identity and condition weren't available.

The sheriff's office is investigating.
