Western Michigan Christian fell short Thursday evening in its effort to take its first regional title on the volleyball court, falling to host Beal City, 25-12, 25-23, 25-22 in the Class D regional finals.
Beal City thrived with a consistent offensive attack and also did the job of limting the Warriors' offensive weapons.
WMC started the match with a run of four points, but from that point on, the Aggies had an answer for every Warriors' spurt.
Offensively for the Warriors, Anne VanRees had 4 aces on 16 serves. Erin Knochenhauer added two aces on nine serves.
Despite coming down with the flu, Lauren Merz led with 11 kills on 33 attacks, while Knochenhauer, who just recovered from the flu, followed with six kills on 11 attacks.
Elyse Ray added four kills, while VanRees set up the attack with 18 assists on 46 attempts.
Defensively, Merz led the block with seven and VanRees added six. Knochenhauer dug 12 balls, while Ray and VanRees each contributed 8.
