SL baseball rolls past WMC

Spring Lake (14-13) defeated Western Michigan Christian in a district tune-up Wednesday, 14-4, in six innings.

Mark Rhem had two RBIs to lead the Lakers, while Kevin Teays, Tyler Pederson and Nick Miller each added RBI hits.

Lakers' pitchers Kevin Bergy, Brooks McDonald, Chris Sabo and Pederson limited WMC (9-12) to three hits.

Andrew Rop and Matt Becker had back-to-back doubles in the third inning to spark the Warriors.

WMC opens play in the Division 4 district tournament Saturday against state-ranked North Muskegon. The contest will begin at noon at Covenant Christian. Spring Lake battles the host Broncos in the Division 2 districts at Coopersville Saturday. The Lakers will take the field at 12:30 p.m.
