Two members of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department were presented with awards from the Crime Prevention Association of Michigan during a special ceremony on Oct. 20 in Mount Pleasant.
Deputy Scott Dyke, a 15-year veteran of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department, was awarded the Youth and School Resource Officer of the Year award for his accomplishments and dedicated service in community policing, and specifically for his role as a school resource officer in the Georgetown Township area and in Jenison public schools.
Donald Lipfert, a member of the Sheriff's Department's Senior Volunteer Program since its inception in 2006, was awarded the Police Services Volunteer of the Year award for his countless hours of volunteer efforts on behalf of the department. He was also acknowledged for his affiliation with the department's Victim Advocate Program, a group of volunteers who assist individuals and families facing tragedy because of crime, accident or other event.
