Trio of pitchers combine on no-hitter for Rivercats

BOYS SENIOR

GIANTS 11, YANKEES 4: Alex Beck and Joe Corbett each doubled and drove in two runs for the Giants. Zac Warber doubled and drove in a run while Cameron Cost and Dan Pancy each played well on defense for the Yankees.

ATHLETICS 18, YANKEES 15: Adam Slater was 3-for-5, including two doubles, and also struck out five batters over two innings pitched. Mason Hawver was 3-for-4, and Bobby Michael played well in the field for the winning team. Mike Dillingham tripled for the Yankees while Zac Warber pitched well and Zac Kennedy was solid in the field.

BOYS JUNIOR

RED SOX 8, MARLINS 3: Chad Mattson had two hits, including a double, and drove in a pair for the Red Sox. Kyle Houts and Zachary Montgomery each had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Christopher Buychuk and Drew Johnson pitched a strong game for the Marlins, while Quin Ostrow made a strong defensive play.

EXPRESS 7, WHITECAPS 6: D.J. Thielbar had two hits and struck out nine batters from the mound for the Express. Thompson McWatters belted a home run and a double, driving in three, while Johnny Miller had two hits and also pitched three strong innings.

RIVERCATS 6, SIDEWINDERS 0: Petie Peterson, Karl Johnson and Connor Grimes combined to toss a no-hitter for the Rivercats. Peterson also had three hits to go with three RBIs. Quinton Morley and John Wickey pitched well for the Sidewinders, and Matt Burroughs did a nice job on defense.

RED WINGS 12, TIMBER RATTLERS 11: Jacob Miller and Mitch Davis each pitched well and went 3-for-3 on offense for the Wings. Josh Hankins added two hits and a pair of RBIs. Will Langejans pitched two solid innings and collected an RBI base hit for the Rattlers. Tristen Eurich added two hits and two RBIs for the Rattlers, who scored nine runs in the final two innings.

SAND GNATS 10, VOLCANOES 2: Matthew Maierhauser had a single, a triple, a walk and scored three runs for the Sand Gnats. Connor Foster added a double and two walks and scored three runs, while Christian Medell was on base twice, scoring two runs, while also striking out five batters over two innings pitched. Chase Slagboom had two singles and a double for the Volcanoes. Slagboom and Josh Cole each pitched two innings.

BOYS INSTRUCTIONAL

DEFENDERS 6, MUDCATS 4: Reese Medell, Danny Griffin and Robby Hartliep each had a pair of hits, while Hartliep scored twice for the Defenders. Matthew Stevenson banged out three hits, including a double, while Faulkner Botbyl-Mast was outstanding on defense.

LUGNUTS 8, RAPTORS 5: James Harding and Austyn Vinton each went 3-for-3 with a double, and Zachary Shreve was 2-for-2 and made a great defensive play for the Lugnuts. Sam Nelson led off the season for the Raptors with a single, and Noah Hyler scored the team's first run. Luke Larsen drove in a pair of runs and recorded the game's final out.

IRON BIRDS 14, AEROS 2: Lucas Witte and Baily McKelips each went 3-for-3 for the Iron Birds, while Griffin Wagasky played great defense. Joey Zelenka went 3-for-3, Landon Keeler was 2-for-3, and Trevor Ellsworth added a hit for the Aeros, who played outstanding team defense.

RIVERDOGS 12, THRESHERS 6: Drew Christiensen was on base three times, scoring two runs and driving in three for the Riderdogs. Dane Christiensen added two hits, two RBIs and a run scored, while Josh Moore had two hits and scored a run. William Lipsohbe played great defense, including the game-ending catch, for the Threshers. Calvin Johnson scored twice while Tyler Melton had two base hits.

ROCKHOUNDS 7, BLUE CLAWS 5: Jacob Metzdorf had two singles and drove in a run while playing a solid game in the field for the Rockhounds. Paul Maierhauser went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Bryce Taylor had two hits and drove in a run while also making the final out of the game. Dustin Kelly and Aaron Clark played great defense for the Blue Claws while Cameron Kyser banged out two singles.

BATS 7, SCRAPPERS 7: Cameron Casey went 3-for-3 for the Bats. Tyler Lester turned a double play, and Mick Ventocilla was strong in the field. The Scrappers were led by Derek Melcher's double. Jack Plowman played stellar defense, and Ricky Stuntz added a base hit.

LOOKOUTS 8, KNIGHTS 3: Hunter Brown had two hits and scored two runs while Jameson Montgomery and Jacob Reiffer added a pair of hits. Hunter Spangler had a single and made a nice play at second for the Knights. Kevin VanderLee belted a triple, and Jonas Quirin had a spectacular catch at third to end a bases-loaded threat.

GIRLS SENIOR

ORIOLES 20, CARDINALS 1: Brittnay Brown and Keisha Pendery pitched five outstanding innings while Danielle Brown had a single, a double and a triple for the Orioles. Kari Bareham pitched two solid innings for the Cardinals. Deseree Burley and Jessica Lewakowski led the team offensively.

BLUE JAYS 15, ROYALS 13: Allysa H. pitched well, Molly Cook had three hits, and SHelby R. played well in her TCKL debut for the Blue Jays. For the Royals, Sara Patton had two hits and pitched well; Dallas DeWitt scored three runs; and Anna Fonte made two key throws across the diamond to record back-to-back outs to end the game. Fonte also scored three runs.

GIRLS JUNIOR

MARINERS 22, ASTROS 10: Ashley Keena struck out six batters in two innings had two hits for the Mariners. Faith Platz had two hits and struck out the three batters she faced, while Bailey Yeager had four hits in her first career TCKL outing. Jamie Kossuth was on base three times and drove in a run for the Astros. Jody Kremer was on base twice, while River Jensen made a great defensive play at shortstop.
