The release occurs throughout and just after impact. A proper release of the club head provides both accuracy and distance. The common flaw in this position is to "block" this event from happening. Check points to look for when attempting to hit the release position:
1. Allow the right hand to gently roll over the left forearm through impact (a moderate to loose grip pressure is required)
2. The golf clubs toe will be pointing towards the sky half way through the forward swing.
3. The right hand and forearm should be above the left hand and forearm half way through the forward swing. (The checkpoint is when the club shaft is parallel to the ground).
Drill:
1. Place your feet together at address.
2. Maintain good posture and knee bend while in the address position.
3. Work on taking half swings (with feet together) and see if you can hit the ball straight and with a slight draw.
4. If you can draw the ball during a small swing, then your release is efficient.
5. If you continue to miss the ball right, you have "Blocked" the release from occurring naturally.
