Lakers finish 3-0 at home volleyball quad

Strong defensive play and a strong peformance from senior Tiffany Holmes helped lead the Spring Lake volleyball squad to a 3-0 record at a home quad Wednesday.
The Lakers continue their busy week with their third quad of the week today, as it travels to neighboring rival Grand Haven.
Wednesday, Spring Lake toppled Grand Rapids Creston (25-8, 25-17); Wyoming Rogers (25-11, 25-13), and needed three games to take care of Comstock Park (25-21, 19-25, 25-21).
Holmes, the Lakers' setter, totaled 48 assists during the three wins and also relied on her strong jump serve to tally 12 aces and 27 points, all team-highs.
Coach Sarah Bulthuis was pleased with her team's strong defensive play as well, including Taylor Keyser's 27 digs. Rachel Kilbry and Katelyn Schram totaled four and three blocks, respectively, while Kelsey Bekius paced the team with 16 kills. Kaitlyn Mulder and Kilbry also reached double-digits in kills with 13 and 12.
Spring Lake improves to 12-4-3 this season.
