GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP Two women who run home-based businesses will be hosting a home party fair at the Grand Haven Golf Club, 17000 Lincoln St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The public is welcome and admission is free.
Katie Radley of Grand Haven Township and Samantha Cutler of Roosevelt Park came up with the idea for the inaugural event. Cutler had suggested the two friends host a home party fair at one of their homes, but Radley said neither had a home that would be big enough for it.
Radley talked to her father, who works at the Grand Haven Golf Club, and secured the Grand Haven Township club's wedding and banquet hall for the first-time event. The two women then contacted other home-based business owners and had to turn some away after confirming what they set as a maximum of 20 vendors for the fair, Radley said.
Radley operates a Tastefully Simple franchise, which showcases seasonings and easy-to-make gourmet foods. Cutler operates a Creative Memories scrapbooking business.
Saturday's event will include hot cider, baked goods and prizes.
Most of the vendors at the fair will be local, Radley said, and the event will be "more upscale" than typical showcase fairs.
"All of the people doing it own home-based businesses," Radley said. "Some of them came up with the business themselves and the majority of the people are women have young kids at home."
