Katherine C. Vormittag

Mrs. Katherine C. (Kate) Vormittag, age 91, of Grand Haven and Seminole, Fl, passed away May 6, 2008, at a local care facility.

She was born January 28, 1917, in Whiting, IN, to the late Ivan and Luba (Svilicich) Bakale. She moved to Michigan in 1921 and was a Grand Haven area resident most of her life. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Matthew's Catholic Church of Seminole, FL. She enjoyed her faith and the fruits of her labors, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Her philosophy in life was to do all you can, while you can and may you find joy in lifting the load others are carrying along life's road.

Kate is survived by her son Norman (Gloria) Westerback of Treasure Island, FL; three grandchildren: Tania (Curtis) Van Dyke and Deanna (Dan) Sears, both of Grand Haven, and Robert (Mila) Lietzke of Honolulu, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; her son-in-law, Gerald (Jean) Lietzke of Grand Haven; one sister, Carolyn (Ruben) Sturkol of Grand Haven; two brothers, Matt (Betty) Bakale of Spring Lake and John (Myrtle) Bakale of Robinson Township; in-laws: Florence Bakale of Grand Haven, Bertha Bakale of Spring Lake and Carl Myers of West Olive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Vormittag; her daughter, Carol Ann Lietzke, in 1985; three sisters: Ann Westrate, Dorothy Meyers and Helen Weavers; and three brothers: George, Joseph and Paul Bakale; and also many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service of the Holy Scriptures will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Father William Langlois officiating. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family from 9-11 a.m Monday prior to the service.
