SLT Board approves Pine Street rain garden

Wed, Jul 16, 2008    to del.icio.us

SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP — Township resident Chuck Taylor can now get busy planting and weeding after Township Board members approved his request Monday night to install a rain garden at the end of Pine Street, abutting the Spring Lake shore.

Taylor, a member of a group called Clean Our River Environment, plans to install a 15-by-31-foot rain garden on the township-owned street-end land. Taylor said he and other C.O.R.E. volunteers will maintain the rain garden, which is scheduled to be planted this fall.

"Instead of pointing fingers at everyone else for our (environmental) problems, we need to take care of our problems at home first," Taylor said.
