BY KYLE MORONEYA former Spring Lake man who police say inappropriately touched his 5-year-old stepdaughter posted bond the same day he was scheduled for arraignment in Ottawa County District Court.
Todd Edward McCallum, with an address in Hesperia, was scheduled to be arraigned June 22 in District Court on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. However, the 38-year-old man posted a $20,000 cash surety bond earlier that same day, court records show.
McCallum's arraignment is now scheduled for July 15 in front of Ottawa County District Judge Richard Kloote.
McCallum was arrested after his stepdaughter reported the incident to her mother, who then contacted police.
According to a Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police report, officers were called to McCallum's residence on the 200 block of Summit Street on June 19 after the girl showed her mother blood in the toilet and said it was because her father had touched her "last night."
During a forensic interview conducted at the Children's Advocacy Center in Holland, the girl told investigators that McCallum had punched her in the stomach, removed her clothes and his shirt, and touched her according to the police report. Her mother was on the couch sleeping while the incident occurred, the girl said during the interview.
