GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP — An Ottawa County Sheriff's deputy was treated and released from the hospital after his patrol car was hit by another vehicle early this morning.

Deputy Eric Westveer was driving east on 44th Street in Georgetown Township at around 1:30 a.m. when his 2007 Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicle was struck by a vehicle northbound on Eighth Avenue, Lt. Steve Kempker said.

The northbound vehicle, driven by 31-year-old Jamey Hause of Acme, Pa., failed to stop for a flashing red light at the intersection, Kempker said.

Westveer, Hause and two passengers in Hause's vehicle were transported to local hospitals, Kempker said, where they were treated and released with minor lacerations and bumps and bruises.

Alcohol did not play a factor in the crash, Kempker said, which remains under investigation.
