GRAND RAPIDS (AP) A 19-year-old who confessed to defacing war monuments in Grand Rapids has been called a disgrace by a judge.
Kent County Circuit Judge Dennis Leiber has ordered Kyle Endicott to perform community service, pay restitution and write a biography about one of the soldier's names he defaced in January.
Leiber told Endicott on Thursday, "you are a disgrace to your family, a disgrace to your school, and you have insulted the community."
The Traverse City native and Kendall College of Art and Design student had pleaded guilty to painting graffiti on monuments.
Endicott's attorney says his client is volunteering at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
Leiber delayed sentencing until Aug. 7. Endicott faces up to five years in prison.
