19th annual Great Lakes Kite Festival is next weekend

The 19th annual Great Lakes Kite Festival will take place on the beach at Grand Haven State Park next weekend, May 16-18.

The festival will include giant kites, team choreographed flying, a kids candy drop, ongoing demonstrations, a Friday night indoor fly and a Saturday night flight, and a Family Fun Tent. It begins at 1 p.m. Friday, May 16; and concludes with a closing ceremony at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18.

The festival is organized by Mackinaw Kites & Toys and the Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan.

Admission to the festival is free. Entrance to the state park by motor vehicle is subject to standard park fees.
