FREMONT Dogwood Summer Youth Theatre will present "Love's Labour's Lost," an adaptation of Shakespeare's work, beginning July 11.
The play is directed by Chelsea Webb. The romantic comedy is set in Navaree, Spain, in the 1930s.
The plot revolves around the capricious young king of Navaree and three of his happy-go-lucky lords who take an oath to cloister themselves from all feminine distraction for three years of pure academic betterment. Unbeknownst to them, a beautiful princess of France and her three ladies in waiting are about to arrive on diplomatic business and wreak love-at-first-sight havoc on the men's pact.
"Love Labour's Lost" will open on Friday, July 11, on the Dogwood Main Stage at 7:30 p.m. Other performances include Saturday, July 12, and Thursday, July 17, at 7:30 p.m.; and a matinee showing on Sunday, July 20, at 3 p.m.
Admission is free.
The Dogwood Center is 1 mile east of downtown Fremont on 48th Street.
