The committee kicked off the fundraising program by receiving a $5,000 contribution from Squadron 28 of the Sons of the American Legion. In addition to $4,000 already received from individual contributions for the project, will start the campaign to raise an estimated $130,000 required for the memorial monument.

The monument will honor fallen soldiers from the Tri-Cities area who served in world conflicts since World War II. The monument will be located near the corner of Fifth Street and Washington Avenue at the park.
