Tribune readers can test their knowledge of Michigan trivia by entering the fifth annual Michigan Trivia Contest, which is sponsored by Loutit District Library and the Grand Haven Tribune as part of the 54th observance of Michigan Week, May 19-23.
From Monday through Friday next week, the Tribune will print a different Michigan trivia question each day.
Fill in the published entry form with the answer to the question with your name, address and telephone number. Deposit your entry in the box near the reference desk in the library, 1051 S. Beacon Blvd.
Copies of the entry form will also be available at the library.
Participants may submit answers to all five questions, but only one entry per question. Entries with the correct answer to each question will be eligible for the prize drawing. Individuals are only eligible to receive one prize.
Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24.
The prizes were provided by local businesses and organizations. They include a selection of five-gallon pail of fasteners and safety items from Fastenal, a gift basket filled with Italian goodies from Fortino's, a hanging flower basket from Grand Haven Garden House, a Grand Haven/Holland lighthouse decorative flag from Mackinaw Kites & Toys, and an assortment of treats from Sweet Temptations.
Winners will be selected from each question from among the entries having the correct answer on Thursday, May 29, at the library. Entrants do not have to be present to win and winners will be notified the week of June 1.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm has proclaimed the theme of this year's Michigan Week as "Great Lakes, Great Traditions." The week is an annual event that began in 1954 as a way to promote state pride and celebrate Michigan's heritage.
